Owerri is the capital of Imo State Nigeria and set in the heart of Igboland. It is at the intersection of major roads from Aba in Abia State, Onitsha in Anambra State, Port Harcourt in Rivers state, and Umuahia in Abia State.

It is sometimes called the king of soups, and in some Igbo communities beautiful women are sometimes likened to Ofe Owerri. The soup ingredients depending on your preference, include snails, pommo (cow skin), goat meat, okporoko (dried hake), dried fish, oporo (smoked shrimp), mashed dried crawfish, ogiri (fermented soybean) wraps, fresh pepper, ground, dried pepper, ground uziza seeds (Ashanti Pepper), cocoyam, palm oil, sliced ugu Leaf (Pumpkin Leaf), sliced oha leaf, sliced uziza leaf, stock cubes, achi powder, and salt.
Owerri has a humid tropical climate according to the Köppen-Geiger system. It rains most months of the year, but there is a short dry season. Harmattan affects the city during the early dry season, but it is less pronounced than other cities in Nigeria. The average temperature is 26.4°C.
